We are inviting D/deaf and Disabled performers with some experience of making and performing in professional theatre to attend two creative workshops in May and June. The workshops are free of charge.

These will be an opportunity to work with Action Transport Theatre and DaDaFest, focusing on developing your skills and exploring our practice in creating innovative, inclusive theatre for children and families.

Further information

The workshops will give an insight into how we create work for family audiences, looking specifically at our celebrated annual Christmas shows.

Unity Theatre, Action Transport Theatre and DaDaFest are working together to create a high quality seasonal show based on the story of Beauty and the Beast for family audiences in December 2018.

The show follows last year’s The Jungle Book and critically acclaimed, BSL-integrated Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf (pictured above) which had a run at Z-arts, Manchester and the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal before touring nationally.

The qualities of the winter show which have established Unity/ATT’s unique offer include a highly visual language, minimal text, the prominence of music and song, the work being child-centred but for audiences of all ages, a political challenge and ensemble storytelling.

We will also explore ways in which the annual co production can broaden its accessibility for all audiences.
